COJONES lost value of modern world?
14th day after my surgery while browsing on teletext I coincidently stumbled across a headline which said 66% of people did not support over government. Our government supported only 20% of people other 14 % were undetermined. “We are living in a strange world” I though. “66%? And yet that government still ruled our country”. What kind of message was that to the people? That we don’t care anymore for politics. 2/3 of our country voters had the cyst in the brain because they were against our government but didn’t do anything. Apathy, depression, just leave me alone. Those were also the symptoms I had with my cyst. Mahatma Ghandi once said:
“You must be the change you want to see in the world”
“My country needs a head surgery” I thought, “ but unfortunately one top neurosurgeon can not cure the country like it cured me. The citizens ourselves have to cure the country. But how? 2/3 of them have cyst in their brain and can not see the solution or way out of this crises or mess that we are into. But to exchange the cyst with tumor would be only worse. What can we do? Is the revolution our only way out? Do we have COJONES for it? Or did our country already castrated us and made us hid in the corner? The future will tell us, what is going to happen to us. Sadly I don’t have a crystal ball so I could predict our future.”
But something is obvious to me, COJONES is the value which is in decline in our country.
I can not go on without not to mention one of the deepest movie sceens in Lord of the Rings movie which best describes the word COJONES. The party is gathered in Rivendell and they are arguing what to do with the Ring.
Elrond: “The Ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli, son of Glóin, by any craft that we here possess. The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came.”
Elrond: “One of you must do this.”
Boromir: “One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. And the great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland. Riddled with fire and ash and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly!”
Legolas: [stands indignantly] “Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said? The Ring must be destroyed!”
Gimli: [leaps to his feet] “And I suppose you think you’re the one to do it?!”
Boromir: [rises] “And if we fail, what then?! What happens when Sauron takes back what is his?!”
Gimli: “I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an Elf!”
[Commotion starts as arguments erupt amongst the council members.]
Gimli: “Never trust an Elf!”
[the council argues amongst themselves]
[Frodo remains seated, watching the Ring, with the figures of the council reflected on its surface.]
Gandalf: “Do you not understand that while we bicker amongst ourselves, Sauron’s power grows?! None can escape it! You’ll all be destroyed!”
[Suddenly, flames flare up, engulfing the surface of the Ring.]
Ring: “Ash Nazg Durbatulûk! Ash Nazg Gimbatul! Ash Nazg Gimbatul! Ash Nazg Gimbatul!”
[The intensity of the arguments increase. Slowly, determination dawns on Frodo's face. He stands and takes a few steps toward the arguing council, trying to make his voice heard.]
Frodo: “I will take it!”
Frodo: “I will take it!” [The argument dies down. Gandalf closes his eyes as he hears Frodo's statement. The members of the council slowly turn towards Frodo, astonished.] [All fall silent]
Frodo: “I will take the Ring to Mordor. Though — I do not know the way.”
All of you LOTR fans will agree with me, that Frodo had big COJONES when he said that.
COJONES crucial element of growing up
And COJONES are one of the crucial elements of growing up. When today I look at our country which changed a lot in last 30 years, I think what kind of future lies ahead of my son. What kind of traps and temptations awaits him while he is on his path of growing up.
But at the same time I remember that all kinds of traps and obstacles were already there when my generation was growing up. I guess in the end it’s all about person’s COJONES. I often hear how convenient excuse ‘he fell into bad company’ is, because someone’s teenager got into the world of drugs and alcohol and never returned from it.
I was also a teenager once and I met with all kinds of temptations. And alcohol was mandatory in rock, grunge and metal scene. There was not a single concert or party without alcohol. We bought ourselves one liter of wine and two liters of coca cola. From 2 liter plastic bottle of coca cola we spilled one liter of coca cola out. Then we poured one liter of wine into this plastic bottle and had over selves a two liter bottle of ‘bambus’ which we called a mixture of wine and coca cola. That 2 liter bottle was usually enough for one man. Or if it was too much we shared. That is how endless weekends began in our high school when we went out to clubs, concerts or parties. Later when we were in collage we also attended some house or rave parties. And I always consumed red bull vodka on those kind of parties and drunk a lot of water. Those parties were real hard cardio trainings and we burned a lot of calories on those parties.
In those times of my growing up, there were a lot of drugs all around and I believe today there are even more drugs in clubs that there were in my time. Although in my time of growing up you could easily get any kind of drugs as long as you wanted to consume them. A lot of my friends tried all kinds of drugs, but as soon as they offered me some cocain or ecstasy I said „no thanks, i will not try that shit“ and they respected my decision. They respected my COJONES. Someone might say that I had a bad company. But I don’t think like that. Maybe there were some persons that were bad, but otherwise those people were students that mostly finished universities and now have their own companies or have a good job. But those days they were just lost and saw a weekend night out as an escape for all their problems. And those drugs were the means that helped them dealt with their problems. I don’t say that was the right thing for them to do and that alcohol was any better, but that is just the way how it was. A few people that I knew really became drug addicts and I don’t know if they are still alive, but that was really a minority of people that I knew. And I don’t believe that anyone became alcohol addict since alcohol was no.1 discipline in our country and was not really considered something really bad. Today things are changing a little bit since about 10 years ago we got a law that forbids to sell the alcohol to the people younger than 18 years and that alcohol is forbidden to sell in stores after 9 p.m.
So excuse like ‚he fell into bad company’ is for me just convenient excuse for society not to deal with the real problem, which is lack of COJONES in this form of capitalism that we are in right now!
At the end of the day every man is the architect of his own fortune. You decide whether you will resist the temptation or not, whether you will resist the society or not. In my growing up I changed a lot of friends the one way or another. Whether we did not get along, or we had different interest or whatever the reason was. But at the end of the day, you, yourself will bear the consequences of your own decisions. You. Not somebody else, but you. It’s your choice to turn left, right or hit straight into the tree. Therefore excuse “he fell into a bad company” it’s just a poor excuse of the world we live in, so we don’t have to deal with the real problems of our society. Everybody just wants to accumulate as many material goods as they can. We don’t see the lager context or big picture of the lives we live. The world economy is driven by our consumption. To sustain our growth we need to consume more and more, produce more and more. When will this stop? Higher, faster, better, we are destroying our planet and ourselves and on that way our children and teenagers are the ones who bear the biggest consequences.
Let me tell you a story of my friend that we used to go to university together and today we work for the same company. He is a typical man with COJONES. He was training taekwondo in primary and high school. Later when we met in high school we sometimes together released our negative energy on his boxing bag in his basement. I also had trained martial arts for few years. This friend of mine lived in a neighborhood in Ljubljana which was known for violence. A lot of his friends ended up in jail or on drugs. But he resisted those easy money temptations although he was living with his parents and brother in 30 square meters apartment. And believe me if you live in that kind of conditions it’s even harder to resist the temptations for quick earnings. He went to a high school which was known as one of those high schools that students used to go since they could not go anywhere else because of their bad grades. The school was unofficially called „texas“ because it was like in the wild west. There was a lot of fighting and drugs going on in that school. Students were the law and teachers feared the students. During a class students even baked a hot dogs with welding machines or something, they did almost anything they wanted. But nonetheless my friend finished high school and later became my classmate in university of computer and science. He graduated at the university three years after me, but he graduated. And today he is an excellent programmer. He finished the university, got a job and is now buying a larger apartment for his family to live in. That is the best example of COJONES and love for his family! Although he had not an easy childhood, he went to the worst kind of high school ,“he fell into a bad company“ and at the end he finished one of the hardest faculties in our country while he had a part time job. There is only one word to summarize this COJONES. RESCPECT!
COJONES lost value?
I think that in today’s modern world the COJONES is the value that is rapidly disappearing. Everyone is just looking for shortcuts how to get as quickly as possible to the huge mountains of golden bars or cash. That is why corruption is blossoming in our country. From politicians to managers, every day there is a scandal on our national TV that shows our businessmen or even members of parliament being caught in some scandal.
But what can we do? Nothing if we don’t have COJONES!
Where are the times of Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry or John Wayne’s westerns or Stallone’s Rambo or Chuck Norris’s No Retreat no Surrender or Bruce Willis’s Die Hard, or Schwarzenegger’s Conan…Although those movies had no story they had COJONES, do you think those guys would let our politicians and managers go away with such corruption and bad leadership.
Values like honesty, truth, hard work, open mindness, generosity, are the values that you can hardly see on a TV anymore. Everywhere you look there is only one word that everyone thinks it’s a value MONEY. We live in a world where MONEY is everything and true values are fading away. Money, money, money…. The money is all there is. Without money, you don’t have the power, without power and dollar bills you are nobody… Even the sellers in the shops judge you by the way that you are dressed and by that they think they have the insight if you have the money to buy something or not. I could have million dollars in my pocket and if I’d go to a car dealer looking like some grunger or skater he wouldn’t even let me test drive a Yugo, because he would not smell the money on me. How did we came so far? Because we don’t have the COJONES to fight for our believes and our rights. Financial institutions and governments led us to world economic crises and yet we still watch, do nothing and try to figure out what happened. By the time we will figure that out they will tax us even more and the country debt is going to be so high that even my son’s son and my grandson’s son and my grand grandson’s son and 30 times more grand, then son, will have to work their asses off to be able to pay the debt that our corrupted leaders managed to put on our country.
Capitalism is the name of the game. The world turns around the money and profit. It is not even important how you earned the money. It’s only important how much money do you have. It’s not even important how you rise your children if you have the money or how much time you spend with them, how much time you devote to your family… no that is not important… the most important is how much money is there on your account so that you can pay a lot of taxes and you can buy a lot of new shiny stuff that neighbors will be jealous of. Million dollar toys, fancy cars, latest high tech equipment to go surfing with an alien to the moon, thousands of Barbie dolls, and cinema in home…
But do you really think our children care for those things? Do your really think they enjoy modern world and that kind of capitalism where parents don’t have the time to play with them anymore. And the only thing they ever want is to spend some time with their parents. They don’t need shiny, fancy, high-tech, million dollar toys, they just want mom and dad to go with them to the zoo, where they can watch those apes laughing at the man kind at what we have done with our lives. The planet of the apes, we have it right now, we don’t need to go to the future.
Who wins in a movie Good, bad and the ugly? At the end of the movie, one of the best movie scenes ever, where the three guys with revolvers are standing in the circle inside the cemetery and the masterpiece of Ennio Moriccone plays in the background?
The winner is the one who has a cigar in his mouth is calm and has the biggest COJONES.
COJONES is what we need to save our planet and change the world for better.
